Fukushima will start burning radioactive debris containing up to 100,000 becquerels of radioactive cesium per kilogram. As Mainchi notes:

The state will start building storage facilities for debris generated by the March 2011 tsunami as early as May at two locations in a coastal area of Naraha town, Fukushima Prefecture, Environment Ministry and town officials said Saturday.

#2 Natural Gas and the Invisible Spill: How Much Methane Is Reaching the Atmosphere? April 10, 2012

You wouldn’t know it from the news, but there’s a major fossil-fuel spill ongoing in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland. A leak from a gas platform operated by the French energy company Total SA was first detected on March 25 and has been spilling around 7 million cu. ft. (200,000 cu m) of natural gas every day since. Of course gas, unlike oil, doesn’t have a devastating — or visual — effect on the marine environment, which is one reason the Elgin gas field, where the spill is taking place, hasn’t become as infamous as the Deepwater Horizon site in the Gulf of Mexico.

#3 BREAKING: New Gulf Oil Spill April 12, 2012

From the department of No One Could Have Predicted This (via Marketwatch):

…an oil slick was reportedly spotted near its platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. In a statement, Shell said the company is sending a spill-response vessel and will request flights to monitor the advance, and has also reported the sheen to the National Response Center, run by the U.S. Coast Guard. The slick measures 10 square miles, and media reports said it’s about 130 miles southeast of New Orleans. “At this time, the source of this sheen is unknown, and Shell’s priority is to respond proactively, safely, and in close coordination with regulatory agencies,” Shell said. “Updates will be provided as further action is taken.”
